Shodan To Nidan Black Belt Syllabus

1st Dan to 2nd Dan

This is the original requirement for 2nd Dan as laid down by Shihan McCarthy. Please note that the BZJFA syllabus has been amended and now requires both the Nage-No-Kata and the Katame-No-Kata for the grading to 2nd Dan.


Minimum Time:- By Invitation of the Masters only.

THE FULL SYLLABUS TO 1st. DAN PLUS:



NAGE NO KATA ------ FORMS OF THROWING:

All throws to be performed to the left and right as Tori and Uke.

Te Waza ----- Hand Techniques:

Uki Otoshi ----- Floating Drop
Seoi nage ----- Shoulder Throw
Kata-guruma ----- Shoulder Wheel



Koshi Waza ----- Hip Techniques:

Uki-goshi ----- Floating Hip
Harai-goshi ----- Sweeping Loin Throw
Tsurikomi-goshi ----- Lift-Pull Hip Throw



Asi Waza ----- Foot And Leg Techniques:

Okuri ashi harai ----- Foot Sweep
Sasae tsurikomi ashi ----- Supporting Foot Lift-pull Throw
Uchi mata ----- Inner Thigh Throw



Ma Sutemi Waza ----- Supine Sacrafice Techniques:

Tomoe Nage ----- Circular throw
Ura Nage ----- Back Throw
Sumi Gaeshi ----- Corner Throw



Yoko Sutemi Waza ----- Side Sacrafice Techniques:

Yoko Gake ----- Side Body Drop
Yoko Guruma ----- Side Wheel
Uki Waza ----- Floating Throw



NOTE: This is an official syllabus of the Zen Judo Family and supersedes all other syllabuses.
