Bognor Regis Zen Judo Club was the main venue for this years Zen Judo Spring Martial Arts Course, which was held over two days on 5th and 6th of May.

Chief Instructor John Robertson 2nd Dan Zen Judo, has been running this martial arts course now for 5 years and once again it attracted Instructors and Students from a number of Clubs and Martial arts disciplines and as far away as Reading, Northampton and Nottingham .......(click on the link below for more)

This course has in the past been held at Petersfield and this year was the first time it has been held at the Bognor Regis Zen Judo Club with the support of Sensei Tony Richards 7th Dan, the Chief Instructor at the adjacent Kenseikai Jujitsu (Ronin) Club.



Kenseikai Jujitsu

With twenty seven Black belts and students attending each day and a number of high grade instructors attended the course, including Shihan Gordon Lawson head of the British Zen Judo Family Association, Sensei Ron Davidson 7th Dan Tae Kwon Do and Joe Harbet 5th Dan (TJUK).


This year once again sessions covered a number of martial arts including Kenjutsu (art of the sword), various Jujitsu styles, Wadoryu karate, Taekwon-Do, ISTJ Combat Judo, Zen Judo and three Judo Katas including the Katame no kata and Juno Kata. One of the highlights of the weekend was the demonstration and talk given by Sensei Joe Harbet on the Nage no kata which included a lot of background history and incites from his trips to Japan to train.


Kenjutsu - The Art of the Sword


We also had two very well attended sessions by Sensei Ron Davidson on Kenjutsu, which is the art of the sword, from this martial art Kendo was developed.

The course venue proved so popular that next years course is already in the planning stages.
